Security guard may never see again after egg attack

A security guard may have been blinded after an egg was thrown at him on a Kent high street.

The 46-year-old man was attacked whilst standing outside the Co-op in Cheriton, near Folkestone, just after 9.15 pm on Tuesday.

The egg was thrown from a car, striking the guard in the eye and causing the globe to perforate.

He has since had an operation on the eye but has to wait to find out if he will ever regain his sight.

He has been in hospital since the assault, which took place on Tuesday night.

Police have said a witness believes the egg may have been thrown from a blue car, possibly a Renault and it may have had a loud exhaust.
