Serious M2 accident causes tailbacks

The M2 has re-opened following an accident this morning which left a motorcyclist and passenger seriously injured.

The incident happened at 10am near the Medway services.

Kent Air Ambulance landed on the coast-bound lane and medics treated a man and woman at the scene.

The couple were then airlifted to King's College Hospital in south London where they are being currently cared for.

It is not believed they suffered life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was left at a standstill in both directions - with many people heading towards the coast on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year.
