Parents asked to pay schools in Sheerness

Schools in one of the most deprived areas of Sheppey have asked parents to pay £25 a year to help them tackle a cash shortage.

Head teachers say they need the money to balance the books.

It comes after hundreds of teachers staged a march in Westminster today calling for more government funding.
