Laraine Goodwin accidentally fell to her death at Beachy Head

A Kent woman who accidentally plunged to her death at Beachy Head has been named as Laraine Goodwin.

The 49-year-old from Sundridge, near Sevenoaks, slipped from the cliff while walking with her husband on Saturday.

The couple had been walking their dog near the Belle Tout lighthouse, East Sussex, when strong winds are thought to have caused Mrs Goodwin to lose her footing.

She fell 300ft at about 3pm and her body was found by the Eastbourne lifeboat.

Sussex Police said the death was being treated as a "tragic accident", adding that suicide and foul play had been ruled out.

A post mortem examination is due to be held later this week before an inquest is opened.
