A teenager had to be cut from the wreckage of her car after it crashed into a hedge and a tree last night.

The girl, in her late teens, was trapped in the vehicle on the Bethersden to Smarden road, near Ashford.

Firefighters from Ashford and Cranbrook used hydraulic cutting equipment to take off the roof of the Vauxhall.

The teenager was removed on a body board and taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. She was alone in the car.

The smash happened at 6.50pm. No other vehicle was involved.
