Teenager arrested after Chatham robbery

Police cordoned-off a section of Chatham today after a robbery.

Officers sealed off Thorold Road, near the bottom of Chatham Hill, shortly after 11.20am.

It is not clear at this stage what exactly happened, but one man has been taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers have arrested a teenager in connection with the robbery and inquiries are continuing.

Forensic officers are currently at the scene and a police helicopter is hovering above the area.

One eye witness who didn’t want to be named said: “There are police everywhere, it’s all sealed off.

I don’t know what’s happened but there are forensic officers scouring the streets.”

A spokesman for Medway Police said: “We were called to reports of a robbery in Chatham today at 11.20 am.

“A 17-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident.

“Another man has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.”
