Teenager in dock on manslaughter charge

A 17-year-old youth from Maidstone has appeared in court in connection with the death of a man found unconscious in a pub car park.

The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates' Court charged with manslaughter.

It follows the death in hospital of 42-year-old Graham Wales on July 28, four days after an incident outside the Bird In Hand Pub, Heath Road, Coxheath.

The magistrates refused an application for bail and remanded the teenager in custody until October 18 when he is expected to be committed for trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
