Three men charged with robbery

Three men have been charged with robbery and another man bailed after a series of incidents on the Hoo Peninsula.

The first of three raids happened shortly before 1pm on Friday at the JS Mini Mart store, in Avery Way, Allhallows.

The second happened less than an hour later at the Fourwents store, in Fourwents Road, Hoo.

Then on Monday at about 11.40am, a third robbery was carried out at the Post Office, in Christmas Lane, High Halstow.

Four men were arrested shortly after the third robbery. Of these two have been remanded in custody.

A third man, charged with robbery, has been granted bail to appear before magistrates next month. A fourth was released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police say information provided to them by people living in the community has been extremely useful, but officers are continuing to urge potential witnesses to contact them.

Tomorrow officers will be carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the hope of finding further witnesses.

The three charged are: Darren James, 22, of Cazeneuve Street, Rochester.

James has been charged with two robberies and one attempted robbery.

Martin Price, 26, of Castle Road, Chatham, has been charged with robbery and driving whilst disqualified.

Jason Swallows, 22, from Gravel Walk, Rochester, was also charged with robbery.

A 31-year-old man from Rochester has been bailed pending further enquires.
