THE Astra Grass Track Club kick off their season with the annual Champion of Champions event at Swingfield, near Folkestone, on Sunday.

In the solo classes current title holder and reigning European and British Champion Paul Hurry from Kingswood defends his title against some of the sports top names including fellow England Speedway International David Howe, Folkestone’s super veteran Trevor Banks and British Under 21 Champion Lewis Denham.

All three sidecar classes including the International 500s, not seen at Swingfield for several seasons, are included and feature the sports top names including British 1000cc right hand Champion Rob Wilson from Headcorn and 500cc Champions Shaun Harvey and Danny Hogg from Chelmsford.

Practice on Sunday commences at 11am with the first race due off the line at 12.30pm. There will be plenty of side stalls, a beer tent and hot food outlets. The track is signposted from junction 13 of the M20 motorway and the A260 roads.
