Tragic toddler's funeral held

IT WAS most apt that Cody Leach’s two elder brothers Owen and Mason were at the front of his funeral processsion for the final part of his sad journey to the crematorium.

More than 200 mourners wearing bright clothes packed out The Garden of England Crematorium at Bobbing for the moving service recalling the three–year–old’s short life which was cut short by a tragic accident.

He had been playing on his scooter on April 21, just yards from his home in Sea View Gardens, Warden Bay, when a car reversed over him.

Cody’s white coffin was carried proudly into the service by father Jay, his best friend Wayne, his grandfather Steven and his uncle Ryan.

It was decorated in stickers depicting his favourite cartoon characters from the Dora the Explorer TV series. Music from the programme was played at the service.

It is hoped that a bench in memory of Cody will be placed on the patch of grass close to home where grief-stricken neighbours laid flowers after the accident
