The boss of Kent Air Ambulance has spoken of how the trust has gone from strength to strength.

Chief executive David Philpott said the trust had "an incredible safety record in air ambulance delivery in the UK - in fact one of the best in the world."

He described the accident as unique - something that had never happened before and was unlikely to happen again.

When he joined five years ago the initial outpouring of donations from well-wishers had waned somewhat, but now they were in "a stronger position than we have ever been."

The service had now expanded into Sussex and Surrey, with a second helicopter.
