Two women injured in head-on collision

Two women in their 20s were seriously injured last night when their cars were in a head-on collision.

The crash, on the A229 near its junction with London Lane, Cranbrook,closed the road for four hours while police carried out investigations.

Diversions were set up.

The driver of the Vauxhall Astra had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters from Cranbrook assisted by a crew from Hawkhurst. shje was taken to Maidstone Hospital with serious injuries. The other woman was released from her car using a spinal long board. She was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Ttunbridge Wells, with leg injuries.

A Kent Air Ambulance doctor treated the women at the scene.

The road was closed at the junctions with Grandshore Lane and Pinnock Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident and the cars were recovered. The road re-opened at 11pm.
