THE heartbroken mother of a young man killed in a motorbike crash has lashed out at vandals who wrecked her son's memorial just days before the anniversary of his death.

Angela Sim said thieves had taken a plaque and smashed a memorial at the spot where her son, Chris, lost his life one year ago on Sunday.

Flowers have also been stolen from the spot and a windmill has been taken from Lenham cemetery where Chris is buried.

Chris, 20, of Headcorn Road, Sandway, near Lenham, died on October 7 last year after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on the A20, Maidstone Road, Charing.
