Veteran peace activist Peter Le Mare, set off from Penzance on Monday, July 7 for Hoo.

He hopes to dock his 22ft sailing yacht called Be Disarming in time for the start of the Camp.

But first there have been stops at Falmouth, Plymouth and Southampton, to raise awareness of the Climate Change campaign.

Two Kent ports - Dover and Ramsgate - will receive a visit - before Peter and his crew reach their Medway destination.

Peter said: “Almost every war that involves the major powers is about oil and the global power it represents.

“We have to devise ways of using other, renewable, sources of energy and eventually doing away with oil and coal. If we do not we will kill this planet.”
