Video: Trying out for the circus

Life in the circus isn’t as easy as it looks – as journalist Katie Alston discovered.

A week-long run of death-defying stunts, aerial acrobatics and hilarious hijinks is under way in Medway, after the critically acclaimed Cirque Surreal rolled into town on Friday.

The show is a mixture of traditional circus acts fused with dance, drama and humour, and features leading performance artists from 10 different countries.

The big top also doubles up as the outside location for the hit Sky One show Cirque de Celebrite, and trainer to the stars Said Debbach offered to teach our Katie a few tricks of the trade…
