Welling 1 Worcester City 0

Lee Clarke's second-half penalty moved Welling into the top half of Blue Square South for the first time this season on Saturday.

The Wings got back to winning ways when Clarke sent keeper Jake Meredith the wrong way from the spot as Welling completed the double over Worcester.

Manager Jamie Day watched from the stands last month when the Wings won the corresponding fixture 1-0 but he played 90 minutes this time around in the centre of midfield.

Worcester had the better of the first half but their problems were there to see with a distinct lack of firepower. Journeyman Marc McGregor huffed and puffed but it was Danny Carey-Bartram and Marco Adaggio alongside him who fluffed their lines in front of goal.

At the other end, Welling went close through Andy Pugh and Loui Fazackerley without ever really threatening.

The game's crucial moment came seven minutes into the second half when Sam Cutler fed Fazackerley and he was bundled over by Alife Carter. Clarke stepped up to score his fourth goal of the campaign.

Only a fine tackle by Carter then denied Pugh a clear sight of goal after good work by Clarke before another flowing move involving Clarke ended with Sam Hurrell fizzing a shot inches wide.

Fazackerley, Pugh and Jack Parkinson all went close as the home side got back to their passing ways. Worcester's only chance came with 13 minutes left but Carter fired straight at keeper Charlie Mitten when it seemed easier to score.

Bromley were denied a home win against Dover, who scored two second-half penalties to claim a 2-2 draw. Matt Fish was also sent off for the visitors.

Cray Wanderers made it three wins on the bounce in the Ryman League Premier Division, with a 3-2 win away at Hastings United.

A goal in either half from Leigh Bremner and a Colin Luckett penalty see Cray move up to 16th in the table.
