Welling United had a goal disallowed and hit the post late on as they crashed to defeat at the hands of Dorchester Town in Blue Square Bet South at Park View Road on Saturday.

The Wings lacked their usual fluency and trailed at the break after Nathan Walker headed in a corner after 35 minutes.

The second half was only four minutes old when Dorchester doubled their lead, Walker converting from close range after keeper John Whitehouse spilled a free-kick.

Welling responded almost immediately when Jamie Day - a half-time replacement for Lee Clarke - delivered a free-kick that was headed in by Loick Pires.

Pires was denied an equaliser when he headed in Jack Obestellar's free-kick as the offside flag cut short Welling's celebrations.

Day fired over, as did Luis Cumbers as Welling ran out of ideas and time. Striker Andy Pugh (pictured) looked to have rescued a point but his hooked effort came back off the post and was cleared to safety.

Welling remain in the Blue Square Bet South play-off places but have dropped down to fifth place.

Bromley and Boreham Wood shared the points in a 1-1 league draw at Hayes Lane.

The sides went in level at the break - the sixth game in a row that Bromley have been involved in a goalless first half.

Bromley went in front after 68 minutes when Tutu Henriques headed a free-kick into the back of the net.

But eight minutes from time David Bryant equalised as Bromley appealed for offside.
