Woman attacked and robbed in alleyway

A WOMAN was robbed as she walked along an alleyway leading from Ramsgate railway station. The 60-year-old victim was near Elizabeth Kemp Court in Whitehall Road when she felt her shoulder bag being tugged from behind.

She turned and began a struggle with a young man who managed to wrench the bag away. In the scuffle the woman fell heavily to the ground and injured her knees, legs, hands and cut her eye. She was treated for her injuries at the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.

The black bag contained £50 cash, a £150 pair of glasses, a purse, a £80 mobile telephone, and personal cards and papers.

The attacker is aged between 15 and 20, 5ft 6in, slim with short hair. He wore a grey sweater and a white baseball cap.

The robbery happened between 3pm and 3.15pm on Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to telephone Det Con Martin Glynn on 01843 222053.
