Woman hurt in police car chase

A WOMAN driver is recovering in hospital after she was injured during a police pursuit.

The 40-year-old's car was in collision with a suspected stolen Ford Mondeo heading the wrong way on a dual carriageway on Friday, December 26.

Homeless Sean Hart, 21, appeared before magistrates on Saturday morning on a string of charges.

Officers chased the Mondeo when it failed to stop in Bedonwell Road, Bexleyheath, at about 11am.

But they gave up the chase when it went on the wrong side of Bronze Age Way, Belvedere, and collided with the woman’s Renault Clio.

She was the only occupant and taken to hospital where her condition is described as stable.

Hart has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving with no licence or insurance.

No further action has been taken against a 16-year-old boy also arrested at the scene.

Collision investigation officers are probing the incident, which saw the road closed until early evening.

A Met spokesman said crash had been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission as a matter of course.
