Lara Moss was sentenced at Medway Magistrates' Court

A COUPLE faced a terrifying ordeal when a drunk woman wielding a kitchen knife burst into their bedroom threatening to kill them.

Medway magistrates heard that Lara Moss, 23, of James Street, Gillingham, tried to attack Lawrence O’Dell and his wife after entering tbeir home in January.

Mr O’Dell managed to wrestle Moss to the floor while his wife fled to a neighbour for help.

Magistrates heard how he got Moss downstairs and out of the house, but she struggled free and threw a plant pot at him. It narrowly missed him and shattered against a wall. She ran back to her house where police found her sobbing.

Moss had pleaded guilty to damaging the door and carrying a blade at an earlier hearing in March.

Her solicitor, Michael Jenkins said: “She admitted her guilt very early on in this case by entering an early guilty plea.

“She regrets what she did that day and doesn’t remember much of it. She is already attending a course to reduce her cannabis and alcohol misuse.”

Moss was sentenced to a six-month community rehabilitation course for the criminal damage offence and a further six months’ community rehabilitation course, to run concurrent, for carrying a knife. She has to pay £50 compensation to Mr O’Dell and £60 court costs.
