Worker's hand caught in machine

HOSPITAL staff called fire and rescue crews for help after a man got his hand trapped in a hydraulic cutting machine.

The man was working on a construction project at Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital at the time of the incident.

Firefighters used their special cutting equipment to free the man when they arrived at about 2.45pm on Wednesday. After about 30 minutes they managed to release his hand.

He was believed to have suffered crushing injuries which are not thought to be too serious.
