A 23-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage after a rooftop incident on Saturday.

Police were called to College Avenue, Gillingham, shortly before 10am, after reports of a man sitting on the roof of a garage.

A 200-yard cordon was set up around the area.

Paul Smith of The Chase, Tunbridge Wells, was arrested after the incident, which ended at around 6.15pm, and charged.

Police say he was also wanted on warrant and is due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court in relation to the warrant.
