Young woman assaulted after abduction

A WOMAN was grabbed from a shopping street, bundled into a car, driven off and later assaulted.

Thanet police say the 20-year-old Slovakian was walking in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, near Margate, when a large black car with dark tinted windows pulled alongside. A police spokeswoman said: “The driver asked the woman a question but she replied that she could not help because was not a local resident.

“It appears that she was then grabbed and forced into the car. She was driven out of the county where she was assaulted. She then made her own way back to Thanet where she reported the incident.”

The abduction happened between 11.10am and 11.20am on Sunday, March 31, near the Kentucky Fried Chicken take-away store. Anyone who remembers seeing the car or the young woman is asked to telephone Det Con Chris Pepper 01843 222004.
