Young woman trapped after car hits tree

A WOMAN in her 20s was taken to hospital with suspected head injuries and multiple fractures after her car collided with a large tree.

The late-night incident happend on a bend in Waterlow Road, Vigo Village, near Gravesend.

Two fire crews from Thameside fire station attended the scene to find the lone female driver trapped in the wreckage.

A Kent Fire & Rescue spokesman said: "We cut her out but it was difficult due to the extensive damage to the vehicle."

Crews took almost an hour to release her and she was then taken to the Darent Valley Hospital at Dartford. Her current condition is not known.
