THE family of a teenage motorcyclist, who was hurt in an accident in the county, has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Jack Rye, 16, shattered several bones and suffered cuts and bruises when he had to pull up sharply in front of a car which is thought to have done a U-turn near him in the middle of Maidstone Road, Rainham.

Jack, a pupil at the Howard School, Rainham, had to brake so sharply, he was thrown up into the air and landed heavily on the ground. He shattered his arm and collarbone and dislocated his elbow and wrist.

The accident happened at the junction of Arthur Road near the Londis store at about 9.30pm, on Thursday, June 21.

Jack is now out of hospital and is recovering at home.

His dad Bill said: "He's slowly recovering, but the whole thing has really shocked him. We just want to find out what happened."

A police spokesman said: "If you saw anything we would urge you to contact PC Greg Salt on 01622 798535."
