£10m St Lawrence redevelopment plans put back

Kent have confirmed that no work on their £10m redevelopment plan for St Lawrence will take place before October after a down-turn in the economy and a slow down in the market for new homes.

Club chairman George Kennedy confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with partners Persimmon Homes Ltd and Vantage Hotels Ltd, who both remain committed to bringing the plans to fruition.

Mr Kennedy said: “I know that members understand the circumstances under which we are operating.

"Our partners are committed to progressing the plans but it is important for the future of the club that we proceed sensibly. We have had to progress more slowly than planned and the timetable has inevitably slipped.

"As a consequence we do not expect any development on the ground before the end of the season. Whilst this is disappointing, I hope members enjoy the rest of the season unhindered by works on the ground.”
