Charlton Youth 5 Swindon Youth 1

CHARLTON will meet Sunderland in an FA Youth Cup quarter-final tie at The Valley next Wednesday after sweeping aside Swindon 5-1 in Tuesday's fifth round.

After crushing Sheffield United 6-0 in last month's fourth round, the Addicks Academy class of 2008 produced another scintillating performance in front of a crowd of 1,459 who gave them a standing ovation at the end.

Swindon escaped an heavier defeat as Charlton twice hit the woodwork.

Jonjo Shelvey opened the scoring in the eighth minute and increased the lead in the 18th.

Skipper Scott Wagstaff lobbed the third in the 24th minute and 60 seconds later Ben Godfrey made it 4-0.

Ben Joyce pulled back a goal in the 31st minute following a misunderstanding between Charlton goalkeeper Joe Wooley and central defender Yado Mambo.

Wagstaff's solo burst in the 54th minute killed Swindon's revival hopes. The Sunderland tie will kick-off at 7pm.
