KENT boxer Johnny Armour puts his fighting career on the line this Saturday night at York Hall, Bethnal Green.

The former WBU bantamweight champion is back to prove he has what it takes for another title showdown, as he looks to bounce back from the defeat in his last comeback against Tuncay Kaya.

The Frenchman beat Armour on points in June last year, in what was Armour’s first contest for almost two years.

Defeat this time against fellow 37-year-old Delroy Spencer from Wolverhampton, though, would see the Chatham fighter quit the ring but there are no signs of negative thoughts coming from the Armour camp.

On paper, Armour should have few problems against Spencer, whose far-from-impressive records reads just nine wins in 42 fights.

He made his professional debut in 1998 and his last victory was back in January 2002.

Armour, who weighed in on Friday for the super-bantamweight six-round contest at 8st 7lbs, said : "I feel the best I’ve felt in a long time and I’m in good shape.

"I’ve done everything right in the gym and everything’s going well. "My promotor Eugene Maloney is looking for a title fight afterwards and he’s on my side."

Maloney, who took Armour under his wing at his Fight Factory gym in Deptford following the Kaya defeat, believes his fighter should have few problems.

"It’s going to be a good little fight for his comeback," said Maloney.

"It’s a fight to prove to himself and to us that he isn’t completely shot to bits.

"He’s been impressive in the gym and he’s buzzing and training well. He’ll then go out again four weeks later in March, and after those two wins we’ll get him a title fight."
