CHARLTON striker Kevin Lisbie's appeal against his red card picked up in a reserve game has been rejected by the Premier League.

Lisbie reacted angrily to a tackle from Leicester midfielder Alan Sheehan in the 2-0 win over the Foxes at The Valley on January 24.

The Addicks have been told Lisbie will have to serve his three match for violent conduct, which means the 26-year-old, who has only just returned from injury, is facing up to a month without any football at all.

His ban was set to begin on February 12 when the Addicks were due to face Tottenham at The Valley, but now that game has been postponed due to Spurs' FA Cup replay, the ban will begin a week later when Charlton entertain Leicester in the FA Cup fifth round.

At the moment, Lisbie will also be unavailable for the away trips to Middlesbrough and Fulham on February 26 and March 5 respectively.

But if the Leicester game goes to a replay, that will be played on March 1, which would be the completion of the three-match ban. If that is the case, Lisbie would be allowed to play in the Fulham game.

Meanwhile, striker Shaun Bartlett has signed a one-year extension to his contract. The South African has worked hard for the team this season, often being employed in a lone striker's role, and the new deal takes him to the end of next campaign.
