FA Cup round-up

A last gasp header from skipper Ben Lewis saw Maidstone knock out Blue Square South side Fisher Athletic in a pulsating second round qualifying round clash at Bourne Park on Saturday.

With the score at 2-2 in stoppage-time, the Stones bombarded the visitors goal from a succession of corners until Elliot Bradbrook's centre was headed in by Lewis from almost on the goalline to spark huge celebrations.

Earlier, an experienced Fisher side had taken a ninth-minute lead when Kenny Beaney beat Andy Walker from 10 yards.

But Nathan Paul's first goal in a year - he pounced on the rebound after Lloyd Blackman's 15th-minute shot on the turn had come back off the post - levelled things before James Pinnock beat his marker and fired home on 68 minutes to put United in front after good hold-up play by new signing Seb Schoburg.

Fisher looked to have earned a fortunate replay when Michael Kamara's mis-hit cross floated over Walker's head with just five minutes to play - but Lewis had the last laugh.

The other Kent side definitely through to the next round is Dover after they despatched Needham Market at Crabble.

Lee Browning put the home side in front after just four minutes when he volleyed in after a poor punch by Needham keeper Darren Smith and Frannie Collin doubled the lead nine minutes before half-time after being sent clear by Matt Fish.

The visitors pulled a goal back almost immediately but substitute Jerahl Hughes made the game safe at the death after a good through ball by Collin.

A Peter Smith goal 15 minutes from time earned Thamesmead a replay against Merstham.

The home side went ahead on the hour through Kevin Lock but Smith struck after Bradley Killick's cross hadn't been cleared to restore parity.

It could have been even better for Mead but a brilliant save denied Ricky Cable a stoppage-time winner.

Folkestone are out after being beaten 2-1 at home by Horsham.

Defender Andrew Howard thumped the visitors into a 36th-minute lead before Evan Archibald headed in Lee Carey's 72nd-minute cross to make it 2-0.

Craig Wilkins' drilled low shot gave Invicta hope with five minutes to play - but they couldn't find an equaliser in the closing stages.

The home side had a strong penalty claim turned down when the score was only 1-0 after James Everitt appeared to have been hauled down by the Horsham keeper.

And Dartford are also out after losing 1-0 to Hampton & Richmond Borough at Princes Park in a game the home side dominated.

The only goal came three minutes before the break when Barry Matthews netted after an error by Ryan Hayes.

By that time the visitors were already down to 10 men after Dean Wells was given a straight red card after blocking Lee Noble's path to goal.

The Darts were the better side but couldn't make a breakthrough. They came close when Hayes' corner struck the bar and then Brendan Cass had a fantastic chance to level late on but failed to get a shot away.
