FA Trophy round-up

Ramsgate came from behind against Kent rivals Tonbridge to book a place in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy at Longmead on Saturday.

The Angels went ahead two minutes into the second half when Carl Rook netted from the spot after Leon Legg's flick on had been handled in the box - but the Rams were level in the 61st minute as Steffan Ball latched onto Jay May's header, held off his marker Simon Glover and finished beyond Lee Worgan.

Former Angel May put the visitors in front with 10 minutes to go when he beat Worgan to a long free-kick.

Andy Hadden's superb 25-yard drive wrapped up the win in the 88th minute, although there was still time for Rams keeper Danny Twyman to punch into his own net under pressure.

Andy Hessenthaler's Dover are also through after winning 2-0 at Staines.

Frannie Collin opened the scoring on 10 minutes with a fine curling free-kick before Jerahl Hughes settled any nerves with the second a minute from time.

The other Kent side definitely through is Dartford, who beat Harlow 2-1 in front of 851 spectators at Princes Park.

Adam Flanagan's venomous 25-yard strike put the Darts ahead on 14 minutes - but a Mark Taylor penalty seven minutes later sent the sides in level at the break.

Harlow's Jamie Richards saw red with three minutes to play for a second bookable offence - and Dartford made their numerical advantage pay as they conjured a fine 89th-minute move that ended with Ryan Hayes slotting home the winner.

Maidstone face a replay on Tuesday night after their home tie against AFC Hornchurch ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Stones had to come from behind after Hornchurch took a 37th-minute lead. United conceded possession and a quick through ball found striker Dean Green, who outpaced the defence and beat Andy Walker in the Stones goal.

The leveller came 13 minutes after the break when Ashley Ulph's drive across the box was helped on by Jay Saunders and turned in at the far post by James Pinnock.

Cray Wanderers must also try again after a 1-1 draw at Tilbury.

Scott Kinch headed in a Tony Dolby corner to give the visitors a 28th-minute advantage - but Chris Stowe nodded in the equaliser midway through the second half.

Margate are out after losing a match they dominated against Hendon 1-0.

The only goal came after just three minutes when Harry Hunt's long-range effort crept under the body of Scott Chalmers-Stevens, who will be disappointed not to have kept it out.

Gate were unlucky not to be in front themselves by that stage though after Michael Power's overhead kick came back off the bar.

Kenny Pratt squandered two glorious chances to equalise and the home side also had a late penalty appeal turned down after Ryan Peters appeared to be tripped in the box.

Tommy Binks 25-yard effort wasn't enough for Chatham, who succumbed 2-1 at Harrow Borough.

Chats were already two goals down when Binks netted and assistant boss Steve Best blamed "a lack of finishing" for the exit.

Whitstable are also out after losing out 4-3 to Brackley in a seven-goal thriller at Belmont.

Dan Wisker scored twice as Whitstable let a 3-2 half-time lead slip against Southern League Premier Division Brackley Town.

Much-travelled Tony Thorpe put the visitors ahead after 12 minutes, but Mark Munday levelled for Town six minutes later.

Thorpe headed in Brackley's second, before Wisker scored twice in eight minutes to put Whitstable in front for the first time.

Dean Cracknell then levelled from the penalty spot 11 minuites after the restart - and Richard Pierson struck the eventual winner midway through the second half.
