Facey gets chance to stake his claim

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has challenged unsettled striker Delroy Facey to prove his worth tonight at Aveley.

The Gills face Ryman League, Division 1 North side tonight and Facey will lead the attack.

Stimson is still waiting for Mark McCammon to recover from a hamstring injury and Gary Mulligan (achilles) is also struggling and that could leave the door open for Facey.

“Delroy is still contracted at the club and he’ll play at Aveley,” said Stimson.

“He can now stake the claim to maybe become involved on Saturday because the forwards at Dover didn’t do as well as they would have liked to have.”

Stimson will include a mix of first team players, youngsters and trialists and he could play Garry Richards and Adam Miller after the pair’s late showing at Dover left them watching from the bench.

The Gills boss had a long chat with them after Tuesday’s game and was due to hold talks with them this morning.

“Sometimes when you talk after games your so disappointed with the result that sometimes things can be said but well decide what to do in the morning,” said Stimson.
