Former Kent cricketer Paul Farbrace has spoken about the moment gunmen opened fire on the Sri Lanka cricket team in Pakistan.

The 41-year-old ex-wicketkeeper and academy director, who lives at Harrietsham near Maidstone, said: “There were lots of loud bangs, and then it became apparent it was gunfire and explosions.

“There were shouts to hit the floor and that is eventually what we all managed to do.”

Six policemen and a driver were killed in the attack on the team coach close to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday while eight tour members were injured.
