Final whistle for Margate FC?

MARGATE Football Club's plans to re-develop Hartsdown Park have been rejected.

Members of Thanet Council decided at a meeting last night not to re-build the ground. Without it, Margate could face expulsion from the Conference League.

The council said it could not approve the plans because the funding necessary to see them through has not been secured.

The club demolished the former ground last year because it was not up to Conference standards. It has been playing "home" games at Dover’s Crabble Ground ever since.

Margate manager Chris Kinnear said today that unless the situation could be sorted out within the next couple of weeks it could spell the end of the club.
