Gillingham 1 - Preston North End 1

A DISAPPOINTING end to a dismal day as Gillingham gifted Preston a share of the points in the 90th minute, and Mamady Sidibe was carried off with knee ligament damage.

Mark Saunders, in for the injured Simon Osborn who is out for six months after rupturing his Achilles against Norwich on Saturday, put the Gills ahead in the 62nd minute.

In a game where Gillingham missed a couple of good chances and had two penalty shouts turned down the home side did more than enough to take all three points.

With the Lilywhites looking toothless up front it took a blip in concentration from Nyron Nosworthy to allow Richard Cresswell to become the last-gasp goal hero for the Preston fans for the second game in a row.

Early assessments of Sidibe’s injury, the result of a terrible tackle by Paul McKenna, are good and the big Mali striker is expected to be back within days rather than weeks.
