GILLINGHAM boss Ronnie Jepson blamed a defensive-minded Crewe side for a lack of entertainment on Saturday but was delighted with his side’s 1-0 win at Priestfield.

Jepson said: "It was a bit dour at times. I don’t think the conditions and the way Crewe set up helped – they didn’t want an open game.

"They had the back four and then two centre halves in midfield so it made it really difficult and it was always going to be scruffy."
