Gillingham manager Mark Stimson will hold talks with midfielder Kevin Maher next week in a bid to lure him back to Priestfield.

Maher played seven games on loan at the end of last season and is now a free agent after being released by Southend after 10-years at the club.

Stimson said: “He’s a player I’d very much like to bring to the club.”

The Gills boss is also at an “advanced stage” of negotiations with a League 1 striker as he attempts to make his first signing of the summer.
