Gillingham 0 Brighton 1

BAS SAVAGE returned to Priestfield to score the winner as Brighton beat Gillingham 1-0.

The former Gills striker broke free following a defensive blunder to claim maximum points for the Albion.

Savage’s goal came after 18 minutes when he capitalised on a mistake by Ben Chorley and toe-poked in past keeper Romain Larrieu.

Gills responded with a few chances, the best of these coming from Gary Mulligan, as he headed against the base of the post.

The Gills were in charge in the second half but despite intense pressure they were unable to breach Albion’s goal, with Andrew Crofts hitting a post late on.

Subs Not Used: Cox, Spiller, Collin.
Attendance: 6,609.
