GILLINGHAM have signed goalkeeper Romain Larrieu on a one-week loan from Plymouth. The 30-year-old joins the Gills squad for the trip to Swansea this evening after Luton recalled keeper Dean Brill from his loan.

Brill was expected to figure for the Gills against Swansea and against Tranmere on Friday.

But Luton requested the keeper return for the club's FA Cup tie against Q.P.R, leaving Gills manager Ronnie Jepson in a race against time to find a replacement.

Jepson's only other keeper at the club is Kelvin Jack, who is currently absent through injury.

The deal for Larrieu is intially for a week, with the possibility of the deal being extended if the keeper makes a favourable impression and the club's can agree on a deal.

Larrieu began his career in his native France, playing for Montpellier, where he was understudy for former international keeper Bruno Martini.

After a spell in the lower league's of French football and six months out of the game, the former Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock brought him to England. He has gone onto make 180 appearances for Plymouth.
