Folkestone Invicta 0 Gillingham 2

GILLINGHAM warmed up for the big League 1 kick off with a 2-0 victory over Folkestone Invicta at the Buzzlines Stadium on Wednesday night.

Second half goals from Darren Byfield and trialist Carl Wilson-Denis made it a comfortable evening's work for Neale Cooper's men.

The visitors took the lead after 52 minutes when Matt Jarvis played in Byfield to beat Tony Kessell in the Invicta goal.

And Wilson-Denis wrapped up the win 16 minutes from time after a good move down the left.

Gills fans will have been pleased to see Darius Henderson involved in the match after last season's top scorer had a transfer request turned down by Cooper last week.

Gillingham are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Cambridge United.

Gillingham: Banks, Cooper, Hope, Johnson (Cox 70), Rose, Jarvis (Hessenthaler 72), Pouton (Corneille 86), Crofts (Flynn 45), Jackman, Henderson (Roberts 76), Byfield (Wilson-Denis 56).
