Gills swoop to sign striker Barcham

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has bolstered his attack by signing striker Andrew Barcham on loan from Tottenham.

The 21-year-old is the third Spurs youngster to move to Priestfield this season, following in the footsteps of defender Leigh Mills and winger Charlie Daniels.

He will go into the squad for Saturday's home game against Port Vale and is likely to start alongside Simeon Jackson if Gary Mulligan fails his fitness test.

The loan deal expires after Gillingham's home match against Chester on Saturday, October 25.

Barcham, a pacy forward, joined the Tottenham academy in 2003-04 and made his full debut in their 3-1 Carling Cup success over Port Vale in November 2006.

He was on loan at Leyton Orient last season where he scored one goal in 25 games.

This season he has made a good start to Tottenham's reserve campaign with the winning goal in their opening fixture against West Brom.
