MATT HOLLAND made his return from injury as leaders Charlton reserves and Crystal Palace reserves played out a disappointing goalless draw on Monday night.

Holland played 67 minutes on his comeback from long-term injury before giving way to Harry Arter in the Pontins Holidays Combination Central top-of-the-table clash at Stonebridge Road.

In a match of few chances, Charlton's Luke Varney went closest to winning the match two minutes from the end following a mistake by Palace central defender Jeff Hughes.

But with a clear run on goal, he overran the ball and allowed goalkeeper Scott Flinders to save at his feet.

At the other end, Palace striker Ashley Robinson spurned three good second half chances while Charlton goalkeeper Robert Elliott saved bravely at the feet of Ryan Hall.
