Injured ice men rested ahead of key match

PARRISH: may play himself for the first time since last October
PARRISH: may play himself for the first time since last October

THE Invicta Dynamos' coach Kevin Parrish will take the opportunity rest players on Saturday ahead of a potential cracker against Romford Raiders at the Gillingham Ice Bowl on Sunday.

Dynamos play Slough Harrier Hawks for a second time on Saturday, in the English National Hockey League (South).

Parrish said: “We beat them 15-2 at home, so I’m going to rest players with niggling injuries and hopefully have a fully fit squad for the following night’s game against Romford.”

Alex Shaw (hamstring), Stuart Lowe (back), Paul Hume (knee) and the unavailable duo of Andy Martin and Damien Welch will be missing on Saturday. Parrish said: “There’s a chance I might play myself for the first time since last October but that’s a last resort.”

The Mos then play their third Premier Cup game against higher-league Romford and Parrish believes it’s the best chance they have of an upset.

He said: “They are missing key players because unfortunately they have got themselves involved in certain incidents, so this is a good time to play them.”

Romford will be without top forward Kyle Amyotte who suffered a triple break to the nose and cheek fractures a fortnight ago and Fraser Hendry who cannot even eat solids for six weeks, let alone play, after having surgery on a double jaw fracture on Monday night.

Defenceman Bernie Bradford is also a doubt as he is still on medication for a trapped nerve in his back.
