Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson will have to wait a little longer for his first senior international cap after failing to make the team for Wednesday night’s World Cup qualifier.

Jackson trained with the Canadian squad ahead of the CONCACAF Group 2 match in Jamaica at the start of the week but failed to make Dale Mitchell’s starting eleven and had to settle for a place on the bench.

It was Canada’s final qualifying match but they were already eliminated, finishing bottom of their group, and Jamaica won the game 3-0.

Jackson is expected to travel back to England on Thursday and will join up with the Gillingham squad who are scheduled to make the trip up to Bury on Friday.
