JOHNSON: netted nine goals
JOHNSON: netted nine goals

GILLINGHAM striker Tommy Johnson has left Priestfield after having his contract paid up.

The 34-year-old arrived in the summer of 2002. He made just 56 appearances for the club and scored a total of nine goals.

Johnson's contract was up at the end of the season but both parties agreed an early settlement.

It was thought Johnson had been in line for a return to first team action in Gillingham trip to Watford on Saturday.

The striker had successfully completed 70 minutes in the reserve team's 3-2 defeat against Luton Town, getting on the scoresheet in the process.
