KENT and Surrey could not be separated after two days at the Worsley Bridge Road ground in Beckenham and their pre-season friendly finished level on scores.

The six-session game of 100 overs per side, saw each county share a 60/40 overs batting split on each of the two days.

Surrey took first use of an excellent pitch at the former Lloyds-TSB Social Club venue to post 346 for six in their 60 over stint on Tuesday after centuries from Ali Brown and Azhar Mahmood.

Robbie Joseph was the pick of the Kent attack with three for 67 while Martin Saggers had to be content with one for 80.

In the remaining 40 overs of the day, Kent raced to 238 for three courtesy of an 111-ball century from Martin van Jaarsveld and an unbeaten 98 from 94-balls from Darren Stevens.

Surrey resumed on Wednesday to add a further 141 for four from 40 overs with Mark Ramprakash (48) and Scott Newman (43) making the top contributions.

Kent replied and levelled the scores in reaching 249 for three in their 60 overs as the two rookie batsmen hoping to replace David Fulton at the top of the batting order both caught the eye. Joe Denly retired unbeaten on 109 with 17 fours and a six, while Neil Dexter closed on 74 not out with nine fours.

Kent finish their pre-season campaign today with a limited overs clash at Northamptonshire's Wantage Road ground.
