GOALKEEPER Nicky Weaver and striker Svetoslav Todorov are the latest additions to Charlton's squad as the club continues to rebuild following relegation to the Championship.

The experienced duo became manager Alan Pardew's seventh and eighth summer signings when they joined the Addicks on free transfers on Wednesday.

Todorov, a Bulgarian international with 40 caps, arrives from Portsmouth on a one year contract, while Weaver put pen to paper on a three year deal after leaving Manchester City.

Pardew said: "They are two great Bosman signings for Charlton. They are two proven Premiership players who are now Championship players.

"Nicky hasn't had the breaks in his career that he has deserved, but this is a great opportunity for him while Svetoslav's quality and precision, which is proven in this division, will be very important to us, especially in home games."

Todorov, 28, was the top scorer in the then First Division in 2002/03, but turned down a Premiership contract with Pompey at the end of last term.

Weaver, also 28, started his career with Mansfield Town but rose to prominence following a move to Maine Road in 1998.

Injuries and the arrival of David James restricted his appearances as City returned to the Premiership in 2002, but last season he made 31 appearances.
