Kinnear: our season's been amazing

Margate 0, Scarborough 2

MARGATE manager Chris Kinnear refused to be downcast after a final day home defeat by FA Cup heroes Scarborough.

Kinnear said: ”It’s been an absolutely amazing season and what we have achieved as a club matches that of champions Chester. After all that has happened it’s been a magnificent effort by everybody.”

Scarborough led 1-0 at half time after substitute Kevin Gilroy put them in front a minute before half time, before Mark Quayle’s close range header put the result beyond doubt.

Margate finish 16th in the table, behind Burton Albion and Scarborough on goal difference.

Goalkeeper Phil Smith was named Supporters' Player of the Year, ahead of runner-up Bill Edwards with Jake Leberl third. Leberl won the Players' Player of the Year prize.

The presentations took place at a packed Centre Spot Social Club after the game.
