Charlton supporters are being made to wait even longer to see former favourite Linvoy Primus back in a first team shirt following his arrival at The Valley on loan from Portsmouth.

The powerful central defender, who has just turned 35, suffered a knee injury playing in Wednesday’s private friendly against Barnet.

Primus returned to Portsmouth on Thursday for treatment, with Addicks manager Alan Pardew stressing that the injury was not in the same knee that kept him sidelined for 16 months.

"In the circumstances we thought it was best that Linvoy returned to Portsmouth for treatment,” said Pardew. “At the moment I don’t know how long he will be out for.

"We’ll know more when we get the report back from the Portsmouth physio."
