Midfielder reassured over Wings future

MIDFIELDER Adrian Clarke has been ruled out for six months – but he still has a future at Welling, according to manager Adrian Pennock.

Clarke has struggled since September with a groin injury, which specialists believe will only be cured through complete rest for six months.

That means Clarke will be out until the start of October. His current Wings deal expires at the end of this season and Pennock said that the door is open for him to return.

"I’ve already spoken to Adrian and told him that I want him around next season, and we’ve agreed that we’ll talk again in a few months," said Pennock.

In a busy week for Pennock, defender Leon Solomon has agreed a one-year contract for next season and he has assured supporters that there are no plans to sell leading scorer Danny Kedwell.

"There have been no approaches but a lot of rumours," said Pennock. "If clubs are interested then they’ll need to pay good money to get him because he won’t be leaving us for a bag of bibs.

"I want to build my squad next season around the likes of Danny, Leon Solomon and John Guest."
